The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, Professor Olasebikan Alade, has called on staff members of the institution to seize the opportunity in winning the grant.
According to Alade, exploring the window will improve the quality of research work and also bring the university a better rating.
The Vice Chancellor, yesterday, during a press conference to announce the 13th meeting for the 2021-2022 academic session of the institution.
While stressing that the institution’s students are also encouraged to focus on research, he said that a software loan program through the entrepreneurship festival has also been established.
Prof. Alade, who narrated the activities lined up at the meeting, said that a total of 481 graduates will be awarded their first degrees.
He said: “A total of 88 postgraduate students will graduate, while six will be awarded PhD certificates.”
“We are awarding honorary doctorates to three distinguished personalities who have distinguished themselves in their work and service to humanity.
“They are: Sen. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, human rights activist and politician; Elder Aderemi Olowookere, Chairman of the Christy Caleb Foundation, an astute front-line entrepreneur and philanthropist with a passion for promoting work in health, education, and poverty alleviation.
“And Dr. Boboye Olayemi Opeyemi, immediately past Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC): “He is a fulfilled public servant, serial medalist, and also a philanthropist with a passion for excellence.”
Fakolujo, who said the university’s tuition fees are reasonable compared to other private universities in the country, said JABU is committed to producing graduates who excel in life.
“One outstanding performance was recorded by one of our law graduates, who passed away with first class honors during the 2021-2022 academic session at the Nigerian Law School.
“These and many other notable achievements continue to attract the interest of many prospective students who wish to study at our university.
“I am happy to inform you that a 400 level student from the Department of Entrepreneurship, Samuel Ayomide Jesuyan, has been appointed as the West African Youth Ambassador for his dedication, hard work and perseverance in service to humanity.
“He is a tireless advocate and crusader to promote entrepreneurship for African youth.” “The award is the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity,” he said.
Fakolujo listed some of the major achievements of the university in the last academic year, adding that the stakeholders of the university are not stopping at their oars to ensure that JABU achieves its desired goals and objectives.
“It should be noted that during the year under review, JABU was ranked 3rd best among private universities in Nigeria in the latest webometric university ranking.”
