
According to reports, Lepowura was earlier admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Center before being flown to the United States last week for further treatment where he died.
A Twitter post shared by football’s governing body, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the death of the veteran.
“We are very saddened by the news of Lepowura MND Jawula’s death. Alhaji was the Chairman of GFA from 1997-2001. He is also the chairman @MTNFACupGH & being the Chairman of the @Ghana League The Organizing Committee until his death. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him,” association wrote.
The late sports fan was Chairman of the GFA between 1997 and 2001.
The Black Starlets lifted the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1995 during his tenure.
Jawula is the chairman of the Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) and is also the Lepowura of the Kujolobito Lepo-Kpembe Gate in the Northern Region.
