Kidnappers release remaining Baptist Church members after N10m ransom

Kidnappers have released two remaining members of the Baptist Church in IwoOsun State where they were kidnapped.

Five members of the church were kidnapped but three were released on Wednesday after paying a ransom of N6 million.

PREMIUM TIMES has reported how two victims were abducted while returning from farms around Ileogbo area of ​​the state and how three others were abducted while delivering ransom to the kidnappers in locations around Kogi State.

The President of the Osun Baptist Conference, Paul Kolawole, and the Chairman of the Osun Baptist Conference, Sunday Ogundijo, announced the freedom of the two remaining members of the church in a joint statement signed on Friday.

He said the members of the church were released from captivity after paying N10 million.

“It is interesting to tell Your Excellency that we highly value timely intervention especially in the context of executive orders and other measures taken to fast-track the rescue process,” the statement said.

“It is interesting to inform Your Excellency that two persons were released on the 17th while the last two were released today Friday January 20, 2023 despite the cumulative payment of N10 million ransom.

“I would like to express my gratitude if you will give us all one day to hold the four victims to you as we need to show our appreciation. This will also allow us as a Conference to thank you for your success as the Executive Governor of our country,” he said.
