The Land Commission promised to clean up the land market
The Land Commission says it is ready to clean up the country’s land market.
Challenges such as various land sales, land guards and others are a source of concern for the Commission.
The Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, James Dadson told the media that the outfit will stop at nothing to nib such practices in Bud.
He noted that the Commission has expanded its awareness program, as well as involving many stakeholders since last year, all in an effort to sensitize the public in the operation.
Enshrined in Article 238 of the 1992 constitution, Mr. Dadson pointed out that his organization has witnessed high patronage due to public involvement and efforts to use technology for its outreach.
He further noted that the Land Commission has a great role to play in helping to improve investor confidence through a sensible land administration structure.
“We are concerned because as an agency responsible for recording all registered land transactions, as much as possible, what is in our records should reflect the situation on the ground. So, we should not have a situation where people will claim land without title. To reverse the situation this, the public must be educated about the role of the Commission and the process of land acquisition and registration,” he emphasized.
The Lands Commission boss noted that after the return year and other diaspora involvement, many investors in the diaspora are involved in the service.
He said the state would witness more action from the organization this year stating that they are collaborating with security agencies to carry out regular patrols to protect the land from the activities of land guards.
In addition, he will strengthen ties with other state agencies such as the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and the Ghana Free Zone Board to facilitate mandates.
“We believe that in 2023, we will be able to clean up the land market thanks to the measures that have been taken. We also propose a marriage between the private sector for the technology and expertise needed for land administration to ensure that we are efficient and can automatically automate the records in Throughout the country to deliver easier and faster services”, Mr. Dadson assured.
