Dr. Bawumia Supports 47th SWAG Awards With GHC 50000  | General Sports

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has donated GHC 50000 to the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) to support the 47th edition of SWAG Awards.

The SWAG Awards are held annually to honor prominent Ghanaian Sportsmen and Sportspersons.

More than 40 athletes who excel and honor the country in 2022 will be honored by SWAG next weekend.

Assistant Vice President, Tamimu Issah, presented the money to SWAG President, Kwabena Yeboah and General Secretary, Charles Osei Asibey, on Wednesday.

Sports Journalist, Women’s Soccer Player of the Year

Of the total, Dr. Bawumia donated 10,000 cedis to each winner of the two award categories; Female Footballer of the Year and Sports Journalist of the Year with the remaining 30000 cedis going to SWAG to help the organization.

Last year, Vice President Bawumia also sponsored the 46th SWAG Awards with 50000 cedis and also awarded GH 10000 cedis each to Best Female Footballer and Best Sports Journalist.

At the 46th SWAG Awards as Special Guest, Vice President Bawumia explained that the financial support for the two special award categories is to encourage women footballers.

At the ‘Best Sports Journalist’ event, the Vice President explained that his support is to encourage Sports journalists to continue to make meaningful contributions to the development of Sports in the country.

After receiving the support, the Chairman of SWAG, Kwabena Yeboah expressed the gratitude of the Association to Dr. Bawumia who has supported.

The Vice President is often praised for his good support for Sports organizations with experts including RTU, King Faisal, Hasaacas Ladies, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, SWAG and others.
