Eagle-eyed Valdez nearing desired World Cup form

Back on the range after the holidays, Jayson Valdez is approaching the form he believes will see him compete in the 2023 International Shooting Sports Federation Rifle World Cup scheduled for Jakarta, Indonesia, this month.

The event will be held from January 27 to February 7, and Valdez has devoted his time practically after the holidays to try to get better. He trains daily at the Philippine National Shooting Association in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The 27-year-old shooter will see action in the pet event as well as in the men’s 50m rifle three-position and mixed team event and will use the 35-nation meet as a springboard for his return trip to the Olympics, this time. in Paris next year.

Valdez is also scheduled to participate in the Asian Rifle Championship/Pistol Cup on March 1 to 10 in Jakarta, which will also host the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship in February 2024, one of the qualifiers for the Olympics.

The Filipino ace will take one of the 16 quotas available for Paris in the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship if he has not issued his ticket before the qualification period ends on June 9, 2024.
