Conservative commentator Charlie Sykes said the scandal engulfing Rep. George Santos (RN.Y.) was “testing the capacity of the Republican Party to lie and to sleaze, which we know is quite considerable.”
The founder of The Bulwark news network told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace that one of the many lies Santos has told about himself shows him to be a “complete sociopath.”
Santos boasted with “enthusiasm” about his accomplishments on the volleyball court that never happened, Sykes said.
It is “the spirit of a complete sociopath who lies and embellishing, but we have gone way beyond simple embellishing here and this story will become worse and worse and worse,” he predicted.
“So, this will test Kevin McCarthy’s capacity to participate in shame. We already know what capacity to tolerate lies and sleaze,” said Sykes.
