According to Ras Nene who dropped out of school after graduating from JHS, he started smoking at a young age. Sharing how he was introduced to smoking, he said when he was young, people sent him to smoke.
“Do not send your child to buy cigarettes or even smoke in his presence. Sometimes if someone smokes, puts it on the floor and puts it out, the fire cannot be extinguished. So in that case I was forced to choose, hide behind the house and smoke another one. That’s how it started” said.
“I was stubborn because I earned money from the scrap trade and my smoking habit made things worse. My mother would sit me down for some advice but I didn’t listen and gradually I was introduced to a friend,” said Delay.
Dr. Likee tells how he became a traunt and controlled the streets of his area. “I used to control the streets. I had big men covering me so I could get more money. I had weapons to scare customers with ulterior motives,” he said.
Revealing how he got his name, he said “my boss at the time named me after a notorious criminal in Lagos called Anini. So people can’t pronounce it correctly and it’s ‘Ras Nene“.
Knowledge in early adulthood, Ras Nene said “in the mid-20s, I crossed the Libyan desert several times with drugs. I was a drug addict until my early 30s and I became a Yaro. I have a son who works for me and I just come for my settlement. Drug smuggling is also part of the transaction“.
“There is a cure called bond. I once smuggled from Togo into the country. We hid it in the tire tube of the trailer and brought it out when we got to Ghana. I was dealing in crack too” he said.
According to Ras Nene, he eventually went to prison and there he experienced a change. “I have been in court seven times although I lost only two cases. I dealt drugs and went to jail many times but there, I learned a lesson”.
“Acting then came along the line and changed my life completely. Even with the habit of smoking, I realized that It is not right to smoke and in the company of this famous actor. I told myself that God has plans for me so that I quit, as a result of determination,” said Delay.
