An ill-timed bathroom break! Doja Cat, Harry Styles and more stars had to rush back to the stage after going to the bathroom before their categories were called at the awards show.
The “Say So” singer made headlines at the 64th annual Grammys in April 2022 when her collaborator. SZA took the stage without Doja to receive the award for Best Pop Duo or Performance Group.
“You went to the bathroom in five minutes, are you serious?” SZA, who also struggled as she hobbled to the platform on crutches, asked.
Doja gasped as she finally said, “I’ve never held a pee so fast in my life.”
After recovering from barely winning, the rapper got emotional when he accepted the “Miss Me More” trophy. (The two women beat “I Get a Kick Out of You” by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga“Lonely” by Justin Bieber and White Benny“Butter” by BTS and “Higher Power” by Coldplay.)
“I really appreciate it. Thank you to everyone, my family, my team, I wouldn’t be here without you, and I wouldn’t be here without my fans,” he said. “And you know what, SZA, you’re everything to me. You are amazing. You are the epitome of talent, you are the lyricist, you are everything.
She’s hardly the first star to go MIA when her name is called. In 1998, Christine Lahti disappeared when Robin Williams announced she had won Best Actress – Television Series Drama for her role in Chicago Hope at the Golden Globes.
“I’m in the bathroom, mom!” he explained when he finally got on the podium, jokingly wiping his hands with a towel.
For nearly twenty years, Lahti remembers the time he spoke.
“That’s the first thing I think about, that my mom would say, ‘What are you doing in the bathroom? Can’t you go earlier?'” the actress said at the Golden Globes 75th Anniversary Special in 2017. me, it might have something to do with it.”

Styles’ then-bandmates Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan took the stage to accept the Global Success Award at the 2014 Brit Awards.
“Has anyone seen a curly boy? Actually, there are four now,” Payne joked at the time.

Lahti was in the bathroom when she won best actress for Chicago Hope at the 55th Golden Globe Awards.
“It puts it in a good perspective for me – a healthy perspective,” the actress said during a special 2017 Golden Globes. “Suddenly there was a great sense of humor this evening instead of just nerves and anxiety and ‘who’s going to beat who?'”

Patrick Schumacker, Critics’ Choice Award (2023)
when Abbott Elementary School won Best Comedy at the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards, Quinta Brunson shared during her acceptance speech that one of the show’s producers wasn’t on stage because she had to use the bathroom.
“One of the producers is in the bathroom right now, so he missed it,” the actress said while accepting the award at the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards. “Patrick [Schumacker,] that’s what you get.”
Schumacker managed to get on the stage at the last second.
