GRIDCo restores power after bushfires affect transmission lines
The Ghana Grid Company, (GRIDCo) said it has restored power to all areas that were previously affected by the outage on Saturday.
GRIDCo previously attributed the outage to problems with transmission lines due to a bushfire on a high voltage line near Tarkwa in the Western Region.
Giving an update on the development, GRIDCo in a statement issued by the Corporate Communications Section said that “at 17:57GMT [on Saturday, January 14, 2023] power has been restored to all areas previously affected by the outage for its Transmission Lines”.
It also said the National Interconnected Transmission System has also been fully restored and stabilized.
“GRIDCo expresses its appreciation to the people of Ghana for their patience as efforts are made to restore NITS and power to Ghanaians. Once again GRIDCo apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this incident.
