Pointless crime or half-witted robbers who stink at stealing?

Two Free State robbers redefined the meaning of “senseless crime” after they successfully tried to rob an ATM cash box at the Twin City Mall in Heidedal, Bloemfontein on Saturday morning.

CCTV footage shows the dapper robber wearing a blue jacket, knee-length khaki shorts and a referee’s hat, clumsily plowing through a small group of people standing near a Capitec ATM.

One security guard had driven the silver box, which was allegedly filled with cash to Capitec Bank, when the suspect made a move, pushing the other person.

He then pulls out a handgun and the group quickly disperses when they realize a crime has been committed.

The security guard left the box at gunpoint and walked away, hands raised in surrender.

The robber continued to fire several pointless shots in the air, while walking down the street, despite having cleared the scene earlier.

Another suspect wearing a yellow reflector vest then walked up to the blue wonder and checked the box.

But the cowboy-style thief who wasn’t done with his weapon left another gun in the steel box.

Smoke began to rise from the box, before the referee’s hat thief decided to give the stubborn box some beating. But the steel box, almost for self-defense, mysteriously jumped up, causing the suspect to reel again in fear.

The rabbit-brained robbers then decided that it would be better to leave the money box defending themselves and flee the scene.

Hawks Captain Christopher Singo confirmed for The Warga that no one was injured and no arrests have been made.
