WE WILL TURN APGA INTO A MASS MOVEMENT – Prof. Charles Soludo
Igbo need strong political structure and if all of us are strong members of APGA, then we can bargain in Nigeria.
Erudite professor and former CBN governor, Prof Charles Soludo, made the above statement while receiving members of Authentic Progressive Forum, Friday, at the Golden Tulip Agulu Lake Hotel, in Agulu, Anambra State.
Authentic progressive Forum,APF, a forum formed under the umbrella of APGA and a pressure group put together for people of likes minds with a vision to build a strong and formidable structure in the south east.
The visit was made possible by the Mother-of-the-forum, Barr. Dr Mrs Ifeyinwa Marry Obegolu, AdaIgbo, a member, APGA Board of Trustees.
Speaking on the mission of the forum, the Secretary, Mr Osita Onuko said the forum is out to assemble the best breeds in expanding APGA.
“When we are able to build this political structure, it will provide the platform for members to aspire for political position that can unite ndigbo and therefore we are on course to bringing Ndigbo together through APGA platform” he stated
The chairman of the forum, Ojiefi Janemary Ejiofor, who explained the reason for the meeting, said Anambra is truly bless to have someone like Prof. Soludo and requested on behalf of the forum that Soludo becomes the ‘Father’ of the forum because of his incessant call for Igbo Unity.
AdaIgbo, supporting the call, explained that the reason the forum for his selection as the father of the forum was because of his humility and respect for human. Mrs Obelugo who said she made thorough investigation about the forum, affirmed that they are grass rooted with the rudiments to achieve the desired vision and mission.
Prof. Charles Soludo who waited for all to speak, thanked the executive and members of the forum for honouring him with a visit. In a special way he showered encomium on Barr Obelugo, whom he considered as the mother of APGA.
Prof. Soludo stated that the unity of APGA is the beginning of that strong structure ndigbo needs to take power.
_“South East needs strong political structure, but fundamentally is knowing the platform that will use to get our fair”_ he enthused.
For the forum and by extension the party to be a mechanism for membership, Prof. Soludo said,
“If we are united, then we become strong and then we turn APGA into a mass movement”.
“We must enlarge the coast, so therefore, the forum becomes a mechanism for membership drive for APGA because we have a larger family”.
“If all the Igbos are members of APGA, then we can bargain in Nigeria”
He revealed that in the coming months, APGA will institute the 3 cardinal projects, which are; membership drive, giving content to APGA and creating a belief system. He said with that APGA will capture power at the centre.
Prof Charles Soludo rounded off his talk by happily accepting to be the ‘Father of The Forum’ and the announcement elicited wide jubilation amongst the APF team.
Top on the list of the Exco and Members of APF who made the courtesy visit was the Secretary, Board of Trustees of the Forum , a APGA Stalwart and aspirant for Awka South Constituency 1, at the State House of Assembly, Chief Emeka Igwe.
Others, were; the chairman, Board of Trustees of APF, Prince Emmanuel Ndigwe; the chairman of the Forum, Mrs Ojiefi Janemary Ejiofor; the deputy chairman, Prince Chinedu Okafor; the National Woman Leader, Lady Felicia Okika; Chairman, Chief Nzekwe George; amongst others.
